Mini Masala Idli Fry Ingredients (4 servings):

  • Required amount of idli batter
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 green chili chopped
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes finely chopped
  • Few Currey leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Chopped coriander for garnish

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Preparing Mini Idlis:

  • To start with the idli fry recipe, you can take some of your leftover idlis and place
    them in a bowl.
  • If you don’t have pre-made idlis, get fresh iD Idly-Dosa batter to make delicious idlis. By using already prepared fresh batter, you will be saving time
    and energy required for fermenting urad dal and preparing it.
  • Now, grease your mini idli molds with ghee or oil and pour the batter in the
    segments on the rack.
  • Steam these in the cooker for 8-10 minutes and remove demold the idlis from the
    mold.

Preparing Mini Masala Idli Fry:

  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and urad dal.
  • When they start tempering, and the urad dal turns dark yellow, add in the curry
    leaves, and chopped green chilli.
  • Now add in the chopped onions sauté them.
  • Once the onions soften, add in the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red
    chilli powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, and salt as per taste.
  • Allow this mixture to cook until the tomatoes turn mushy.
  • Now, add in the mini idlis and toss them with the flavors in the pan.
  • Add chopped coriander for garnish and serve hot.
