Carrot Idli - Healthy Bites!

Steamed idlis are the ideal breakfast recipes for people of all ages. They are tasty and equally nutritious for you to prepare them as a tiffin recipe or as a meal for your guests at any time of the day. Carrot idli is one such South Indian breakfast recipe that combines the colourful carrots with healthy idli batter to prepare a meal that attracts your kids and nourishes their bodies with idli benefits. I have prepared this recipe with a rich combination of flavours and spices to give it a better taste. Once prepared, dunk these small white idli in sambar to get a burst of flavours with every bite. To prepare this recipe, I have used iD’s Idli Batter as it is prepared using the freshest ingredients in the most hygienic way possible. Also, it reduces my effort of preparing the batter from scratch, and it tastes delicious. Carrot Idli Ingredients (2 Servings):

  • 1 cup Idli batter
  • 1 Carrot, grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for greasing
  • Water

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  • Take 1 cup Idly and Dosa Batter and mix it properly to create an even texture. You can add water to create a mixture of running consistency.
  • Add 1/4 teaspoon Methi or Fenugreek Seeds, a pinch of cooking soda, and some salt totaste.
  • Mix the batter well.
  • Grease the plates of the idli maker using oil. Take half teaspoon grated carrot in each plate and pour the required amount of batter over it. Sprinkle some water over the idli plates.
  • Now prepare your pressure cooker or idli steamer by boiling the required quantity of water. Once the batter starts to boil, add the idli plates in it.
  • Steam the Carrot Idlis for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Turn off the flame and let the plates sit in the steamer for 5 minutes.
  • Remove the idli plates from the steamer and allow it to cool at room temperature for 5 minutes.
  • Remove the idlis with a spoon and place them on a plate.
