  • Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
  • Urad Dal – 2 tsp
  • Oil – 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 1/2 cup
  • Idli Batter – 2 cups
  • Onion – 1 whole (2 if small in size)
  • Green Chillies – 2 (4 if small in size)
  • Carrots – 2 (1 if big in size)
  • Green Peas – 1/4 cup
  • Salt to taste

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  • The first thing that you would need to make the cheesy vegetarian paniyaram is an appe pan. Making this dish on an appe pan will save time as you can make many paniyaram in one go.
  • Next, take the peppercorns, cumin seeds, curry leaves, and ground them in a paste. Add this paste to the dosa batter and mix well.
  • Heat some oil in the pan and add the mustard seeds. Once they start to crackle, add in the urad dal and sauté.
  • Once the urad dal turns golden, add chopped onion and the green chilies in the pan. Saute the mixture till the onions turn translucent.
  • Next, add the green peas and carrots to the pan along with salt. Keep cooking until the carrots are soft enough to eat.
