Idli Sambar Powder Ingredients:

  • Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp 
  • Bengal gram lentil – 2 tbsp
  • Fenugreek seeds- 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Red chilies – 5  
  • Cooking oil – 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 2-3
  • Dry grated coconut – 1 tsp

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  • Heat oil in a small Kadai/pan.
  • Add the fenugreek seeds in the heated oil.
  • Once the seeds start sizzling, add the Bengal gram lentils, red chilies, cumin seeds, and coriander seeds. Roast all the ingredients together in low to medium flame. Take care not to burn the ingredients.
  • You can add curry leaves for a variation to the idli sambar recipe powder during the roasting process.
  • Add dry grated coconut to the mixture.
  • Let the mixture cool down and then grind everything together to a fine powder.
  • Store the powder in a tight airbox and use it whenever needed for the idli sambar recipe.
